Change is good, right? Back in October, you may remember LinenTablecloth announced the grand opening of our Memphis, Tennessee distribution center. After working out some minor kinks, we found our customers are delighted in how fast they are receiving their orders.
Since the opening of our Memphis warehouse, the majority (75+% ) of orders ship from that location with the majority of our customer demographic nearer to that location. We quickly discovered that the maintenance of both warehouses is creating significantly more overhead expense than anticipated and will ultimately impact our pricing, thereby affecting the savings we pass on to customers.
Rather than increasing our prices, the tough decision was made to close the Wilsonville warehouse and ship exclusively from our Memphis location. Our corporate office and customer service will remain local, in the Portland metro area, and all orders will now ship from our Memphis distribution center. The only effect it will have on our customers is that they will no longer have to worry about “split-ship” orders (hooray!) and local customers (Portland Metro area) will no longer be able to pick up the orders at the Wilsonville location. We are confident that this will have a positive impact on our company, and ultimately, our customers. LinenTablecloth looks forward to the smooth transition as we go back to a single distribution center. Eventually, we hope to open more distribution centers as we expand our market to Europe, but that is a little further down the road for us.
