Introducing our first “REAL WEDDING COUPLE,” Caitlin and Michael! (Aren’t they a cute couple!)
Caitlin's dress is from David's Bridal. Chair covers and chair cover sashes are from LinenTablecloth.
Caitlin and Michael tied the knot on March 24th, 2012 in Landrum, South Carolina after a six-month engagement. They met in 4th grade and have been friends since!
You can’t help but be inspired by this do-it-yourself wedding! What do you get when you combine a wedding planner, florist, baker, caterer, and Martha Stewart? You get this mother-daughter team! The bride and mother of the bride created all the flower arrangements–everything from the corsages to the big arrangements, made the accessories and favors, and designed the invitations.
All arrangements were handmade!
In addition to flower arranging, they baked and decorated the cake, and catered the reception themselves! (They need to go into business after this accomplishment!) You would never have guessed by looking at them on the wedding day, they looked relaxed and beautiful–no sign of blood, sweat, or tears! (We wonder if they ever got in an argument along the way???)
The couple chose black & white with turquoise and lavender accents as the color palette, and chose the theme “roses and hearts.” The semi-formal reception included 120 guests.
The 120” round black tablecloths, the black satin sashes, white napkins, white skirt, skirt clips, and black 90″X156″ rectangular tablecloths are all from linentablecloth.com.
If you ask the newlyweds what the most memorable moment was that day, they would tell you it was seeing each other for the first time that day.
DIY brilliance!
When asked what else they would like us to know about their special day, they said doing it yourself is a lot of work but totally worth it! Congratulations Caitlin and Michael and thank you for sharing your special day with us!

They did a fantastic job. Everything looks great in pics. I’m sure it was alot of work but well worth the end product. Great Job!
We(mother & daughter) made it through with no arguments!
