It’s that time again. Sad but true, summer is coming to an end, fall is creeping in, and the kids are back to school! Time to put away the flip flops, bathing suits & lounge chairs, and replace them with the dreaded jackets, real shoes, and pants!
With the new season comes a new array of color palettes. What colors and themes are hot this year for weddings? At linen tablecloth, we try our best to stay on top of the color trends because… well, it’s our job!!
Pantone named the color of the year “honeysuckle” which in my opinion compares to watermelon (the flesh, not the rind). Still one of the hottest wedding color trends this year and especially this season is chocolate brown- (One of our best selling colors!)
It is very popular this season paired or accented with aqua, gold olive, ivory, soft pale pink, or rust. According to weddingcolors.net “The fall and winter colors will have very rich shades that include all the earth tones and antique varieties. These shades include dark crimson, olive green, chocolate brown, marigold, plum, fuchsia, royal purple, plum, burnt orange, and navy.” Expect to also see combos like: mauve & wine, rustic brown & pink, warm grey paired with pink, coral, blue, or purple, sky blue, light coral, & pale yellow.
What about the wedding themes this fall? We will see Prohibition-era (the roaring 20’s theme) including vintage wedding dresses with cap sleeves, bridesmaids adorned in shades of lacy dusty nude or dusty rose (our color) and the guys may be sporting zoot suits and wing tip shoes. “Moonshine and bathtub gin” will be served while jazz music plays long into the night and you may even see a vintage photo booth for guests!
Many more eco-conscious brides will opt for second hand dresses, recycled paper invites, or e-vites, food supplied from local farmers markets and instead of wedding gifts – request that guests donate to charity. With social networking so prevalent these days, DIY wedding planning is so much easier because contacts and feedback are just a touch away!
Other popular wedding trends this season:
Flowers: dahlias in shades of burgundy, burnt orange, and yellow, white calla lilies, and a new breed of chocolate brown roses.
Popular this year is textured wedding cakes as well as cakes being replaced by cupcakes.
Bridesmaids may be in different colors of the same style dress or different styles of the same color dress. Also, the tradition of the groom forbidden to see the bride before the wedding is being replaced with the photos taken before the ceremony so guests don’t have to wait for dinner. Food trucks are also becoming a more and more popular way of feeding guests.
So to sum it up, this season is full of some new ideas, some old, some borrowed, and a whole lot of ….chocolate!
