For Lindsay and I, picking the colors came easier than expected. My choice was based on a favorite childhood superhero, Batman. Also my liking of bright flashy colors made it easy for us to choose yellow. Picking a specific shade of yellow was the more difficult decision. We were looking for a yellow that was bright but not too bright since it is a summer wedding. I also figured that it went well with Lindsay’s choice of color, which of course is her favorite color. PINK.
Like yellow, there are various shades of pink and the key is to match the colors in harmony. So we picked fuchsia. Luckily for us, our colors are very popular. With that, we were left with a wide selection of choices. The yellow was easy since Mr. Formal had the right yellow available for my groomsmen. The dresses were a bit harder to find especially for multiple people and sizes.
Lindsay took all her ladies to the mall for a dress date. They started at Sears but found nothing that stood out to any of them. They then continued on to J.C. Penney’s where they almost suddenly found five of the same dress in the exact color that we wanted. The only problem was Lindsay has seven bridesmaids and they only had five dresses. When we went up to pay, we realized the dresses were only $20.00 and a store in Portland was going to ship the other two dresses to Clackamas by the end of the week. Lindsay was really worried about her girls’ day going haywire but she was very relieved to find something that everyone loved. As for the linens, we’ll be using fuchsia and lemon tablecloths from LinenTablecloth.
