My oldest grandaughter just got married this weekend, and she had her heart set on a "cloth" aisle runner rather than the plastic type you generally find in stores. We could not find an affordable cloth aisle runner anywhere. So, at the 11th hour, I ordered this aisle runner from Linen Tablecloth.com since I had purchased from them previously and know their products are a great price and good quality. I also knew that I could count on delivery within the 7-10 days promised.

The aisle runner was just beautiful exactly as it arrived; and could be used with just minor alterations. One thing I would like to point out, however, is that it is simply one continuous piece of satin material - in my case 75' long. It is very simple to sew a pocket to slip in a roller (we used a chrome piece the width of the aisle runner as a roller for the fabric . A piece of white PVC cut to the dimensions would also work well.) I purchased 5 yards of white braided satin rope to thread through the inside of the roller making sure the knot was covered inside the tube. This braided rope served as the pull for the ushers.

Though the aisle runner could be used just as it came packaged, I wanted to make it "super special" for my oldest grandaughter's wedding . Thus, I purchased 6 yards of a creamy baroque satin and with the help of my friend we cut 5" strips of the creamy sating to make a 2 1/2" satin band all the way along the sides and front piece of the runner - 1,880 inches of border to be exact - once the border was sewn on. Now I will tell you that making the border took time; perhaps 6 or 7 hours; but it was a true labor of love and one that would not have had to have been done. The extra work paid off, and was just like putting icing on the cake, There are six other grandchildren in the family. I've no doubt that the spectacular aisle runner has become a family heirloom with many more brides to walk upon it as the years go by!
